My tip is about daylilies. There was a beautiful orange flower open on my daylily bush but the next morning, something had eaten it off. Finally somebody told me what happened. Daylily flowers only live for a day. Then they fall off. Duh. Sylvia

When you work with the public in a high stress job like I do, having a garden to come home to is what keeps me sane all day. Spring ephemerals are some of the first plants to flower in the early spring long before most trees leaf out. They tend not to like the heat and will quickly disappear if temperatures get above 80 degrees. Spring ephemerals leaf out, bloom, go to seed, spread themselves about and then enter dormancy; they don't really die.
