Suntory Texas Summer Double

Years ago, well-dressed ladies wore a pillbox hat on their head, white gloves on their hands, and a string of pearls around their neck. Bring back some tradition by dressing your garden in pearls with Chardonnay Pearls deutzia.

In the spring, Deutzia Chardonnay Pearls is covered with large white pearl-shaped buds that split open, revealing star-shaped full-blown flowers. After the flowers fade, this shrub still begs attention in the border dressed in her chartreuse leaves.

Chardonnay Pearls is one of those spring blooming shrubs that should only be pruned right after she blooms. Her flowers set on branches that have matured for a season. Pruning isn't much of an issue. This is a well-behaved deutzia, only reaching a mounding 20-36 inches high, perfect for the small garden. It is deer resistant and hardy in USDA Zones 5-8.
