Suntory Texas Summer Double

You might have heard about the famously tough Knock Out Rose series introduced a few years ago. Home Run rose is a new hybrid cultivar with Knock Out Rose parentage. Home Run possesses the black spot resistance of the Knock Out along with its own total resistance to powdery mildew.

Mildew and black spot, two severe garden problems, thrive on most roses subjected to heat, humidity, and drought, but not on Home Run. Home Run is easy-to-grow and thrives in most yards from coast to coast.

If you are an heirloom rose fan, the vivid red 5-petaled flowers will remind you of those early shrub roses. That is where the similarity ends. Home Run is eco-friendly! There is no need to spray fungicides repeatedly throughout the growing season. This is a major improvement for our environment.

Home Run fits into small spaces and lights them up with intense red color. At 2 to 3 feet high, it is short enough to blend into the front of most any garden border. It is quick to rebloom with no deadheading required.

Not only does Home Run withstand the heat and humidity up to zone 10, it is cold hardy all the way to zone 4.

Pink is the next color in the Home Run field. Look for it in 2012.
