Modern breeding has created roses that are both easy to care for and well behaved, while still providing the elegance, fragrance and romantic aesthetic gardeners have loved for decades. There really is a rose for every area in the garden! The key is to choose a variety with the desired traits to achieve your goals. Here are six ways to incorporate roses into your garden design.

Get showstopping flexibility with containers. Roses make excellent container plants, providing flexibility to shift these showstoppers throughout the garden and landscape. They’re the perfect fit for one of this year’s top garden trends, Patio Culture, which celebrates gardening on decks and patios to create low-maintenance, calming outdoor living spaces. Roses in containers offer an elevated look easy care. Monrovia’s Itsy Bitsy® Peach Miniature Rose (Zones 5-9) is a perfect, petite choice, and Nitty Gritty® Roses (Zones 4-9), available in white, yellow, pink, red and peach, are also outstanding performers in containers.

Add accents to any landscape. A signature shrub rose adds an accent anchor to any landscape. Grace N' Grit™ Shrub Roses (Zones 4-9) are fuss-free and produce upright bouquet-worthy blooms. These plants have outstanding disease resistance and thrive in a wide range of conditions, from coastal weather, to humid environments, to dry and hot locations. Plus, gardeners can choose from pink, yellow, red, white and a stunning pink bi-color variety to find the right roses for their garden’s palette.

Define borders. Roses are great for defining garden borders, and they offer other benefits, too. Providing for pollinators is a top priority for many gardeners, and Honey Blush™ Rose (Zones 5-9) offers pretty, free flowing blooms that entice pollinators to visit. Monrovia’s plant hunters chose this rose specifically because of its exceptional ability to attract pollinators. This selection makes an especially good choice for those looking to embrace the Wild Meets Refined garden trend, which celebrates a naturalistic meadow while providing a curated look.

Climbers add visual interest. For gardeners looking to add height to the landscape, climbing roses are the answer. In addition to drawing the eye upward, climbing roses can soften walls or fences, and these beautiful plants fit well with another top garden trend, The Easy Sunday Garden. Heavenly Ascent® Climbing Roses (Zones 5-9), available in pink and red, have large, abundant flowers that bloom continuously, plus they are ideal for trellises, growing to eight feet tall with support.

Discover solutions for tough conditions. Growing roses in even the toughest conditions is possible; the key is choosing a variety that can not only survive but thrive in harsh environments. Monrovia’s Seaside Swirl™ collection (Zones 3-9) offers a trio of rugosa roses that are extra-hardy, handling cold, sea spray and road salt with ease. The best part? They don’t get out of control like many rugosa roses can. The shrubs are covered with blooms from mid-spring until fall and produce lovely hips for autumn interest.

Enhance ambiance anywhere with delightful fragrance. A lovely floral scent can be just the touch that brings a landscape from good to great, and roses are a quintessential choice. Monrovia’s Eau De Parfum® collection (Zones 5-10) boasts big, delightfully fragrant blooms, perfect for adding a welcoming aroma to patios, decks, walkways and front steps. Available in five distinct colors, Eau De Parfum roses will round out any part of the garden with beauty and fragrance.
