August, the last month of summer, is a good time for stargazing—and even better for enjoying spectacular flower displays throughout Gibbs Gardens. Gorgeous, bold and beautiful color welcomes visitors with elegant arrangements on the Flower Bridge entrance, Le Jardin’s colorful serpentine planting beds, the allées of lavender-flowered crape myrtles and the unique lime green blossoms of Limelight hydrangeas.

Ask Jim Gibbs, the owner/designer/developer, to name his favorite month at Gibbs Gardens and, in the blink of an eye, he’ll tell you, “August—because of all the color. It’s just fabulous. The big show everywhere is the thousands of annuals and perennials blooming throughout the gardens. There’s magnificent color wherever I look.”
In flower now through October, the Monet Waterlily Gardens’ tropical and hardy blooms double their images in the ponds. Gibbs describes the waterlilies as, “jewels that sparkle and reflect in our ponds.”
The Grandchildren’s Sculpture Garden—honoring the Gibbs’ 11 grandchildren—is a peaceful refuge.

With elegant beauty and dramatic color, thousands of roses in shades of yellow, pink, red and white bring lush color throughout Gibbs Gardens. Dramatic S-curved ribbons of vibrant Knockout roses sprawl across the Valley Gardens. A classical 130-foot-long trellis covered with blush pink New Dawn roses crowns the Manor House Gardens. These gardens offer picture-perfect views of the North Georgia Mountains, including Mount Oglethorpe.

In the Valley Gardens, nine vast planting beds in Le Jardin provide intriguing contrasts with plants of different sizes, shapes, colors and textures in creative arrangements. Visitors experience the formidable beauty of nature as never before.
Honored with the National Garden Clubs’ Award of Excellence, Gibbs Gardens was named one of the “Thirteen Best Botanical Gardens in America,” “2020 Best American Botanical Gardens,” one of the “World’s 10 Best Places to See Daffodils,” a top garden in Georgia by the Atlanta Journal Constitution and Explore Georgia.
