From the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit, to the applause received at universities' trial sites for 100 percent survival rates amongst trialed varieties, Terra Nova Nurseries is proud of their many awards and acknowledgements related to their breeding.

Terra Nova Nurseries' breeders are also proud to do original work, and incorporate species that add hardiness, heat-tolerance and improved blooming into new varieties. With over 1000 new plant introductions, the global plant breeder has truly become the world leader in new and better plant genetics.

Each Terra Nova Nurseries variety is born out of a specific breeding goal; for example, pulmonaria that doesn't grow mildew, or coleus that branches heavily with so much vigor that it's considered a "hands-off" maintenance proposition. For plants like heuchera, the breeding goals involve producing easy-care varieties across a plethora of foliage colors that fill landscapes in showy style. Terra Nova Nurseries' geums are bred with the same specific breeding goals; with their early-blooming flowers and leafy habit, industry experts have exclaimed, "I would have this plant in my garden for the foliage alone!"

A current sampling extracted from Terra Nova's stable of high-performing plants includes a very showy, and very hardy, agastache that thrives in New Mexico as well as in Washington state. In addition, one of the company's brunnera, from Belarusian breeder Alexander Zuikevich, has impressed both the public and trial administrators at Colorado State University. A puffy-flowered echinacea, in addition to two new geums with gorgeous foliage that fills pots and blooms beautifully, are additional varieties that, like many of Terra Nova Nurseries' varieties, can be used for edging, borders and mixed beds. This sneak peek offers a look at a few of Terra Nova Nurseries' varieties available for home gardeners across the country and beyond.
