Red Barrel Cactus

There are a lot of myths about cactus and water. The water inside a cactus is salty and pithy, thus will make you sick if drinking. But the salty juice can be used in cooking. Cut the top off of the cactus, hollow it out, squeeze the juices back in, add some water to dilute it, throw a wild animal in, heat stones, throw them in, keep doing that until the meat falls off the bone. The salty juice makes the meat tasty. This was the first crock pot.
