Eric would like to address with Jason the process of designing with outdoor lighting. How should we approach
a garden or a home, when he walks on a property what is he thinking about - what is the right thing for this
homeowner? Jason explains - The home is always the biggest asset so he always wants to light that first and
he tries to guide people to the front door or the entryway. And he tries to guide people in using focal
points. He will identify several different focal points in the landscape.
Eric thinks what Jason has done here is really tasteful and would like Jason to talk us through what he has
put together. The Tiny House has beautiful pathways, safety was a big issue so he wanted to put some top
lights in that would flow through the walkways, highlight the landscape, highlight the fountain,
highlighting the house, accenting different things. And he did it tastefully, it’s not overdone. Jason made
this soft and elegant.
But he can make it as elaborate as is needed. He has lighted a single wide mobile home to a 25,000 square
foot mansion and everything in between. This Tiny House was a fun project to be involved with. It will
provide the homeowner satisfaction about what this property can really be. Eric thinks Jason has done a
great job, and thinks he needs to upgrade his lighting game after looking over the lighting in this
landscape. Thanks Jason for joining us on GardenSMART.
