Suntory Texas Summer Double

You might think you know Rose-of-Sharon, also known as hardy hibiscus, but take a look at the Chiffon Series Rose-of-Sharon. The large and abundant flowers are single petaled on the outside with a mound of lacy ruffles in the center. These come from breeders in England. Lavender Chiffon. and White Chiffon. Rose-of-Sharon were the first to arrive. Now the newest is Blue Chiffon. Rose-of-Sharon, a color usually difficult to find in the summer landscape.

All of the Chiffon Series Rose-of-Sharon (Hibiscus syriacus) can be grown in full sun as a shrub. They are especially good looking trimmed up into a small tree. They bloom in the summer when very little else is going on in the garden. Prune them to any size or shape in late fall or early spring. Hardy in USDA Zones 5-8.
