Suntory Texas Summer Double

If you are looking for carefree columns of gold in a formal setting, then Berberis thunbergii Sunjoy™ Gold Pillar is the perfect plant for the spot. This 3-4 foot shrub grows as a column and glows in the summer sun or even a partly shaded area. The growth in spring is red, which mellows into rich gold. You can put away the clippers. You need do no pruning to keep these columns upright and smart looking.

Sunjoy™ Gold Beret is nearly identical to Gold Pillar, but a different shape. Instead of tall and thin, Gold beret is low and mounding. At 6-12 inches high, it is perfectly suited for a container, and doesnt require any pruning. Its gold comes early and turns red in the shortened days of fall.

Both of these barberries are suited to USDA Zones 4-7. They are deer resistant. And unlike other yellow-leaved barberries, both are proven to be resistant to sunburn.
